TED Talks
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Started in 1984 to bring professionals from those disciplines together, it has grown to a worldwide event. The two annual TED Conferences bring together "the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less."
The TED Talks website was designed to give everyone the TED experience by posting "ideas worth spreading" online. As of November 2012, TED Talks have been viewed more than one billion times!
Many of the TED Talks are perfect for use in the classroom. Use a TED Talk to get a conversation started or as a blog starter or to introduce a unit you are studying. The videos from TED can be embedded on a blog or website making it easy for students to access them.
TED Talks are searchable by topic - you can type circumference or permutations to find a good math video or try economics, biology (try this one), art or try "veterans" to find a great video for Veteran's Day. You'll be able to find something!

Here is a TED Talk that might be used to start a Digital Citizenship conversation:
I've found a great TED Talk - now what?
Many of the TED Talks allow you to embed them in your website (as I did above in 30 seconds or less!) or even download them. You can also create your own ted.com user account and create your own playlists and access/organize TED videos for your classes that way.
Your Task:
- Explore the TED Talks site.
- Find two TED videos that will be useful to you in your classroom.
- Use this Google form to share the links for these TED Talks and how you plan to use them.
